Samhain 2016 with Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition at Armadillo Acres
Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition's annual campout this year at Armadillo Acres was a weekend full of milestones, happenings and wonderful memories. The weather was beautiful, the location was a delight and we even had a handfasting with a gorgeous bride and dashing groom.
Over the course of the weekend we had the honor of accepting two new Dedicants into the tradition, be a part of Wahya and Ta'li Seabhac's renewal of their vows, elevate our first 3rd degress (3 of them!) and elevate a 1st degree priestess as well. Congratulations ya'll! We also had an amazing Samhain main ritual written and officiated by two of our new 3rd degrees. Then we gave the kids a good scare followed by bags of candy and treats on the 'Trail Of Doom'. Muhahahaha
I mean, check out this incredible altar! Isn't that gorgeous? You know it is! Because that's how we roll. There were quite a few "beyond the veil" encounters as we camped out there on the land as well. Only one presence had to be turned away during main ritual but most encounters were delightful. Like, an EVP of what sounds like Native American Singing delightful for one thing. There were live bats flying above the main altar during set up for main ritual, armadillos wandering about, deer visiting the creek during the night and other very nice wildlife interactions as well. Overall we had an absolutely phenomenal weekend and definitely plan to be back out to Armadillo Acres for Beltane next year if not sooner. :-)
Rainy day thoughts from Ta'li Seabhac, a 3rd degree priest of Temple Of the Standing Stones
From time to time
Our minds may fly
Between the past and the future
When now seems dry.
Looking out among the space between the soul and the sky
Have you seen the way the light
Reflects and dances upon your eyes?
It's pure magic
It's the beauty of our youth
It's the sound of the raindrops falling from the roof.
It's you and me
Hand in hand
Walking toward a promised Land
A song of sweet words
That make my teeth hurt
Perhaps a gentle breeze that tells a story thru the trees
A one time silence
Of multiple pleas of peace.
Join together aligned with the sound of a war drum
The tempo sets the mood for revolution.
We stand up for those who need a chair
Legs heavy with fatigue
Spirits thick with despair
They see those days ending
We know that it's alive
history shall not repeat
We shield the darkness from our tribes.

Our very own priestess Crystal of Mystic Willow Coven has put together a wonderful collection of pictures featuring altars of Spirit Of the Sycamore tradition including one of nearly every Sabbat we have hosted. Please have a look and maybe follow her board for update:
Prayer & Blessing Requests
We occasionally receive requests throughout the month for prayers and blessings as members of our tribe and extended spiritual family struggle through the challenges of life as well as share in their triumphs and new journeys on their paths. Here, we ask that you add a candle to your altar or otherwise send energies to the following people who have requested prayers and blessings:
Cianaodh, an elder of Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition and HP of Temple Of the Standing Stones shares that he would like to ask for prayers of protection and strength for the water protectors at Standing Rock in North Dakota and the Sioux Nation as they face increasingly violent resistance to their efforts to protect their sacred and legally sovereign lands given to them by a treaty with the United States of America in 1851.
