As Our Tradition Grows by Cianaodh Óg

A few words on the strength in our diversity as we grow. One of the driving forces for me in my pursuit of enlightenment since first discovering that I was Pagan in my spirituality is my love of freedom. I feel that maximum freedom to pursue those sources of knowledge and wisdom which call to us, to study those cultures which fill our spirits with connectedness and to explore those methods which bring us closer to our kindred is paramount to forging a new Pagan path which is what we set out to do here at Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition while we remain in balance and harmony with nature and the universe. As we approach our second birthday this month as a fully formed and recognized tradition I would like to see us continue to embrace these principles while our tradition grows in the coming years. A new group will be hiving off soon and so we will grow from 2 to 3 active groups within the circle of elders as well as the 4th who is our other founding elder and still retains full voting rights. With our tradition small, I chose within my own temple to focus on core Wiccan practices for awhile with some Druidry mixed in because, as a fledgling tradition still hoping to attract our tribe and offer the best eclectic mix for all who choose to study with us I thought this best. I have long wished to focus more fully on Celtic based studies and linguistics however because these are areas of cultural and intellectual interest which call to my spirit. As we grow and offer more groups, therefore more diversity, for our seekers I plan to refocus more into those areas going forward. I hope not to scare too many off as I go down that rabbit hole but those, who, like me, are intrigued with such things, are welcome to join me on the journey. I am extremely proud of Ta'li Seabhac and Wahya for their achievements and continued contributions to our great tradition as I am likewise proud of all of our Initiates, Dedicants, and Seekers. I look forward to working with them as they launch their new group sometime after Beltaine and I hope to see us collaborate on future endeavors. There is strength in diversity and as our tradition grows it gives us great freedom to diversify and pursue more paths to enlightenment. Exciting times are ahead for us all. Let us embrace the adventure!

Book review by Arachne Crowsinger

Wicca Spellcraft for Men (A Spellbook for Male Pagans) by A.J. Drew

This was definitely not another Wicca 101 book, thanks the Gods!  This was a rather interesting and comprehensive look from the writers take about being a practicing male wiccan.

As a woman, one would wonder why I would pick up this book and read it, but as a High Priestess and Elder of our Tradition I am very much aware that in the greater pagan wiccan community resources that speak directly to male witches are few and far between.  I hoped before I cracked the first page if it would be something I would be happy to recommend to any male witches that come to us.  Boy, am I.

Mr. Drew advocates for a balanced approach to magick, honoring both god and goddess.  He also goes into the practical application of science into magick.  I especially enjoyed how he pointed out how each of the five senses can help or hinder us in our spell craft.

A lovely collection of incenses and tinctures, oils and other Miscellaneous Lore, all focused on masculine/god energy.

Summary:  Any Wiccan male or female should have this underappreciated gem in their library.  This helps balance out the rather abundant information on feminine/goddess recipes one has.

 I highly recommend it.

Prayer & Blessing Requests

We occasionally receive requests throughout the month for prayers and blessings as members of our tribe and extended spiritual family struggle through the challenges of life as well as share in their triumphs and new journeys on their paths. Here, we ask that you add a candle to your altar or otherwise send energies to the following people who have requested prayers and blessings:

Cianaodh, an elder of Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition and HP of Temple Of the Standing Stones shares the following:

Deep Peace to You
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
