Welcome fellow seekers to the monthly newsletter of Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition. A collaboration of the elders, clergy and members of our tradition. Participation by Cianaodh Óg

Participation is, has been and always will be key. Community is built by those who show up and do things. I am grateful and proud of my spiritual sisters and brothers who make the effort to show up and do the things. Talk is a fine thing but it means little when actions are not there to back the words up. Thank you.

Prayer & Blessing Requests

We occasionally receive requests throughout the month for prayers and blessings as members of our tribe and extended spiritual family struggle through the challenges of life as well as share in their triumphs and new journeys on their paths. Here, we ask that you add a candle to your altar or otherwise send energies to the following people who have requested prayers and blessings:

Cianaodh, an elder of Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition and HP of Temple Of the Standing Stones shares the following:

Please send healing prayers and energies to my niece Brittany who is having a high risk pregnancy due to medical complications. She is about four months along and can use all of the support and energy she can get. Thank you and Blessed Be.

TOSS – Temple Day – Crafts, Games & Music – Saturday, April 1st from 5:00pm til 11:00pm

Our temple days are days of crafts, lessons, board games, music and general communing with our tribe. Sometimes we watch a movie together, other times we play board games, sometimes we have impromptu music jam sessions, poetry reading or story telling. The point is to have an opportunity to get to know one another and build the bonds of spiritual family. Won’t you come join in with us?

This Temple Day will be held either at Cianaodh’s home or Ta'li Seabhac and Wahya's home in Arlington, Texas. We will announce which well prior to the actual date. The address will be given upon request to those who plan to attend. The focal point at this Temple Day gathering will be Learning Games and Musical Experimentation – Please Bring Instruments, Voices and/or Ideas that you would like to share or just some appreciative ears to listen, hands to clap and feet to tap or dance.

TOSS - Flower Moon Esbat – Saturday, April 8th

Our apologies, but Esbats are open to Initiated Clergy, Spouses and Candidates ONLY as these are the times we do our personal magickal workings and hold temple business meetings. Temple Of the Standing Stones is a Skyclad group which means our esbat rituals are conducted Skyclad. If you are a visiting tradition clergy member from another group, please plan accordingly. If you are not sure what that means, please get in touch with us for an explanation as there are rules of etiquette involved. An article will be posted soon detailing Skyclad Ritual Etiquette. All others, please feel free to attend our next open gathering.

TOSS – Beltaine Preparations – Saturday,  April 15th

Attendees and volunteers are invited to come help us prepare for our upcoming Beltaine campout at Armadillo Acres. Details for the projects at hand and needed supplies will be posted in the near future.

TOSS – Clergy Day – Saturday,  April 22nd

Temple Of the Standing Stones clergy takes the weekend nearest the New Moon off to spend time with their families and friends beyond their spiritual family as we see these bonds as very important to our growth on our path and we seek to maintain these connections.

SOS – Beltaine Campout! – Friday,  April 28th to Sunday, April 30th

Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition will be camping at Armadillo Acres for this weekend as we celebrate with a Maypole Dance, rituals and other activities. Tickets will be $25 per adult if purchased in advance or $30 at the gate. There are no showers on the property but there is a park 7 miles down the road with showers and flush toilets which has a $4 entry fee per adult per day. 2 porta-potties will be provided for the event (more if advance purchase tickets exceed expectations). This will be a "rough" camping environment so please pack and plan accordingly.

Directions

From Dallas, head east on I-30 to Mount Pleasant. (About 115 miles depending where you are coming from).

Exit #160 to Highway 271/highway 49 and turn right. Watch your signs through Mount Pleasant and stay on 49.

Continue on Highway 49 approximately 17 miles to Daingerfield. Watch your signs through town and stay on 49. Continue on Highway 49 approximately 8 miles until you are just past Hughes Springs.

(There is a 4-Way stop at the intersection and it is right next to the Wildflower Inn and Cafe. Great place to stop for food. Decent price, large quantity, home made, damn tasty.) Turn right on FM 2612 Loop.

Continue about 0.5 miles. Turn left at the "Love Chapel Cemetary" sign. (The County Roads are not marked very well if at all out there. Just watch for the Love Chapel sign, it's easy to spot.)

Continue about 1 mile. Road will merge with another, stay left. Continue about another 0.5 miles. (You will go past CR 2987 on your right but not as far as the Love Chapel Church on the left.) Gate will be on your left and not easy to see until you are right on it. There is a green "Underground Cable" box very close, watch for it.

People from other locations, use the intersection of Highway 49 and FM 2612 as your way point. It is just south east of Hughes Springs and north west of Avinger. Find your best route to that location.

Please be sure to watch our Meetup Group Facebook pages and website calendars (Temple Of the Standing Stones Calendar), (Spirit Of the Sycamore Tradition Calendar) as more open events are planned.
