Rune Of the Month:

By Cianaodh Óg

Isa Rune
Isa Rune

Isa in Germanic or Is in Old English writings, the third rune in Heimdall's or Hagal's Aett represents ice which forms the slippery and untrustworthy bridges across lakes, rivers and sea inlets in the frozen northern winters. This rune signifies treachery so beware of beguilement, deceit, hidden purposes, lies, hurtful secrets, concealed meaning, treachery, entrapment, stealth, ambush, plots, betrayal, paralysis of will, impotence, inability to act, blindness to approaching disaster and things of this sort when you encounter Isa. If reading merkstave you may also interpret this rune as portending to ego-mania, dullness, blindness, dissipation, treachery, illusion, deceit, betrayal, guile, stealth, ambush and plots.

Isa is a rune of self control and control of your surroundings. As the ego of your self grows and matures with spiritual understanding this construct can mature into the individual realization of the true YOU. Of course, there is a dark side to the ego. If not controlled it can lead to trips of self aggrandizement and superficial desires. Don't be misled by glitter and pipe dreams. Seek instead real spiritual substance.

Aura Cleansing
By Arachne Crowsinger

The first item on the agenda is Aura Cleansing. What's this you say Arachne? Well, have you ever felt just dragged down because you talked with, or just visited with someone or went somewhere (for me Bourbon Street did this!) that made you feel down, depressed and/or dirty.

AHA! There is now psychic garbage all over your aura. Some do it intentionally; others aren't even aware that they do it, and in the case of places, it lingers like smoke or a bad smell and attaches itself to you because it can. Not pleasant and even worse it can build up over the day(s), weeks, months, years etc.

Technique 1: The Waterfall: Imagine a shower (or heck do this in the shower as it helps the imagery) cascading over you and training the dirt/slime/garbage (whatever visual works for you) off your body. Imagine it sinking into the earth or in the case of a real shower, being filtered as it goes thru the pipes and the negative energy goes into the pipes then into the ground and the was water being free of these impurities.

This is my personal favorite and is great for day to day cleansings as one takes a shower.

Technique 2: The Breeze: Picture if you will a breeze blowing around you. Feel it lifting the negative energy off of you like when a breeze pulls the fluffiness from a dandelion to carry them off. Picture the negative energy being blown into the nearby trees where they will take the negative energy and turn it into good. If there is a breeze actually happening it helps reinforce the imagery.

Technique 3: Scraping: This technique can be performed on the self by visual means only, but works better when done physically if someone does it for you and you can do it for them. If you are actually going thru the physical motions of doing the scraping, then be prepared to ground the energy immediately or have a bowl of salt nearby where you can “shake” the energy into. Salt is a natural ground source because of its crystal makeup and will take a lot of energy before it will no longer work and must be disposed of.
Whether you are doing this for yourself or for someone, have the scrapee stand with their arms and legs out to form a star. This allows the scraper to get under the arms and between the legs.

Start at the top of the head and always work your way down.
Using the outside edge of your hand(s), you will scrap thru a person’s aura like you were wiping crumbs off a table.
When doing this in person do not actually place your hand on them and scrap (the visual I just came up with is funny!), but put it about an inch to 2 inches aware from their skin and scrap around them. Actually this is a chance to see if you can feel their aura and is a lot of fun.

Remember people are three dimensional so don't just go down one side or another, but treat them like a figurine you are cleaning off for important company.

The dirt/slime/negative energy will build up and at that point, either shake it off into the salt or ground the energy. I have found putting my hands directly on the ground, or if your outside on a tree, helps as the energy is then not flowing thru you.

Try all three of these techniques, you will find that some work better than others for you, or are better for certain situations.

Our brother Ta'li Seabhac of Temple Of the Standing Stones has created a new Facebook Group aimed at inspiring some networking and collaboration among our great state's diverse and deeply talented musicians. If you're a Texas musician or a Texan or a musician or just know someone who might like Texas Music drop on in and check it out at:

Speaking of music, this past month Temple Of the Standing Stones hosted another wonderful Musical Experimentation Day with lots of good music and other fun activities.

We were honored to be joined on the back deck by our good friend Wulff Harris who plays with the local band Medicinal Bourbon as we noodled and jammed and played around with some experimental stuff. Later, we played some Giant Jenga!

We almost always take this fun filled game with us wherever we go. You will probably hear the sounds of towers crashing in the woods if you join us for Beltane at Tanglewood Forest later this year. :-) Oh, and we had FIRE!

Cianaodh had to work on the actual day of Imbolc this past week like many of us. But he found time to pull out his phone and tinker around on his Minecraft Pocket Edition in a world called Pagonia to build a Brighid's Well in honor of his patron Goddess even while at work. It's nice to have a place to honor and make offerings to our gods wherever we may go. Pagonia is a world in the early stages of Creative Mode. If you're a Minecraft player and interested in helping to build a new Pagan Oriented virtual world with many shrines, temples and observances to the various gods look up Cianaodh on the Minecraft Multiplayer app (FREE) server number 4808913 and Minecraft Pocket Edition ($6.99 on your app store) some time. It's a fun way to kill some time when it's a slow day and you're waiting to do something else. When it's online, the password to enter Cianaodh's game is sycamore.

SOMETHING FOR IMBOLC

Cold dark crisp mornings I see my breath.
The feel of winters chill I detest.

But I see a light growing and feel she is near.
The Goddess Bridget presents will be here.

With her comes warmth,
inspiration, and Healing.
Soon new life on mother earth will be yielding.

The Horned One is waiting for his Maiden to be
Then another turn of the wheel becomes the Mother in she.

Its her time to rule, its the end of his reign.
Fertile Flames ignite all enchanted creatures again.

Gwilym

The extent of my plan
Is to extend my hand
For we are all flowers under the same sun.
You are mine
And I yours
From the first step upon meeting
This heart never stops beating
We are eternally breathing
One breath within our lungs.

We Share magic
And it is beautiful
How strong you make my fragile soul
It's pure as raw honey
You are medicinal.

I'm a stone upon a steady pond
You're a feather on the lightest wind
You are my beginning
Without an ending
You make it possible for me to stand.

Olympian
By Gary Eoff

Raised into the heavens
On a chariot of flames
High above the pyramids
And above the river Thames
Through the Himalayas
And through Venice's flooded streets
Through sweltering Jerusalem
Over the Colosseum's ruined seats
We wake our way to Athens
And to Mt. Olympus we will soar
For the gods have finally called to me
To the lives I've lived before.

Our temple days are days of crafts, lessons, board games, music and general communing with our tribe. Sometimes we watch a movie together, other times we play board games, sometimes we have impromptu music jam sessions, poetry reading or story telling. The point is to have an opportunity to get to know one another and build the bonds of spiritual family. Won't you come join in with us?

This Temple Day will be held at Cianaodh's home in Arlington, Texas. The address will be given upon request to those who plan to attend. The focal point at this Temple Day gathering will be making Brigit's Crosses. Yes, we know it's late for that but our members love our goddess Brigit and wanted to honor her again on this day so that's what we're doing. Go ahead, call us crazy. We won't deny it. :-)
